november 2010 www.geraldkral.at - exibition during the month of photography „decollage and streetart“ these are photographs of encountered decollages formed by random or intentional ruptures, whether after the poster panel lease has expired or to remove unauthorized billposting. poster ruptures sometimes merge with street art elements. in any case, these demolitions re-contextualize the original material and reveal new aesthetics through juxtaposing and synchronising fragments that were never meant to be side by side, creating a sort of dreamlike state suspended from time and space. older layers that are partially uncovered, semitransparent fragments of messages that hardly draw a veil over text that lies underneath, ‘torn’ hints all become visible at the same time and yield a new whole. shape, colour and information are densified and intensified as well as emotions, thoughts and ideas. the once smooth surface now bears wounds and allows deeper insights. the outcome: captured moments within an ongoing progression towards maturation or decay, depending on one’s point of view.
