can you say anything intelligent or interesting if the design process is determined by bare facts? an additional garage for three cars, gutting the building to create four levels connected by a central staircase. no longer recognizable by the time the new owner finished with it, renovating an early 20 th century villa for sale to some potential buyer is a thankless task. actually this project should serve as warning against a classic design process with a foreseeable end. embracing the banal design in spite of these objections – damn! client: gottfried kratzl / 1997
